A Reno Electrician Talks About Communicating With His Customers

In a prior post, I discussed why customer service should be important to every service provider, including a Reno electrician. Having good customer service is a key component creating customers for life. One common misconception people have about service providers is that we are going to show up late, charge a lot of money and leave a big mess behind once we are finished. As a Reno electrician, I want to combat those misconceptions. I want to show my current and potential customers that my company cares about them. The best way to correct misconceptions is communication. Constantly communicating with people and letting them know what is going on is a great starting point to improving a company’s customer service. If you do not communicate with your customers about anything, then you will eventually end up losing them to your competition. One tactic that my business uses to prevent customers from spending half a day waiting for someone is to set-up appointments with them. We have a two-hour window we give customers. If we are running late, we let customers know so that they see that we care about their time. I also believe in clearly communicating pricing to our customers. Many other electricians charge by the hour, but I think charging by the job is a better option for everyone. Charging by the job or “menu pricing” lets the customer know the cost up front without any hidden fees. Finally, a mantra every Reno electrician should live by is, “to leave the workspace cleaner than he or she found it.” Leaving the customer’s workspace cleaner than it was before communicates a sign of respect for his or her home. It also helps to create a lifelong customer. As a Reno electrician, it is important that my customers know that I care about the type of service they are receiving. Without them, I know I would not be as successful as I am today.
